It’s no secret that I’m a huge baseball fan, and if there’s one thing baseball fans know, it’s the superstition about not talking about big moments for fear of jinxing them.
When a pitcher carries a no-hitter into the 9th inning, the announcers twist themselves into verbal pretzels instead of saying the words “no-hitter.” Meanwhile, the pitcher’s teammates practically ignore him in the dugout, giving him the cold shoulder to avoid tempting fate. The rule is simple: if it’s going well, you don’t talk about it.
Unlike Michael Scott from The Office, I’m more than a little stitious — and what I’m about to share feels like tempting fate. Why? Because it’s all good, and honestly, it scares me.
Logically, I know talking about a no-hitter doesn’t make it disappear. And logically, I know that sharing what I’ve been working on won’t derail my journey as an author and publisher. But it’s still nerve-wracking. So, despite my superstitions, here’s a glimpse of what I’ve been cooking up in the lab.
April 2025: Written in the Stone Re-Release
Revisiting the author I was over a decade ago has been both intimidating and inspiring. I’ve grown so much over the past decade — not just as an author — and revising this story to honor the version of myself who first wrote it while staying true to Ethan, WC, and the world of Bluff Park has been an incredible journey. It’s been rewarding to see just how badass Ethan still is and to approach this book with the skills I’ve gained since then.
June 2025: The Expanding Man Chronicles, Volume 2
We already have five incredible men contributing to this project, with room for a couple more. Their stories are powerful, transformative, and deeply inspiring, and I’m thrilled to help these men share the pivotal moments that shaped their lives.
July 2025: The Eternal Encore
Oh, this book… I’m head over heels in love with this story. Set in two worlds — the vibrant music scene of New York City and a mysterious corner of the afterlife called “The Stuck” — this is a tale of love, redemption, family, and transformation, all set to an unforgettable soundtrack. You’ll fall in love with Jamar, Carla, Martha, Reggie, and the rest of this heartfelt cast. Releasing this on the 10th anniversary of my debut as a published author feels so meaningful.
Looking Ahead: Future Projects
- A New Collaborative Book: I’m in the beginning stages of partnering with some extraordinary entrepreneurs to bring their transformative stories to life.
- I’ve started outlining two new books. One is about Red Haywood, a seemingly washed-up college football coach who defies expectations and proves he’s still got greatness left in him. The other is my second memoir — a deeply personal story about how I transformed from a broken shell of a man into the creative, ambitious, and confident person I am today, all thanks to a certain “Soul Puppy.”
- Global Expansion: I’m in talks with two amazing individuals to take this book-building empire to the next level. To a global level. That’s all I can say for now, but stay tuned.
- Soul-R Powered: Big things are in the works, and I can’t wait to share more soon.
Embracing the Moment
This is what the next few years look like for me. I’m thrilled by the possibilities, nervous about the challenges, and deeply excited to help more people find their voice and share their stories.
In closing, I’m reminded of the legendary NASA flight director Gene Kranz. As he addressed his team before the chaos of what ended with Neil and Buzz landing on tranquility base, he ended his speech with these unforgettable words:
“We were born for this moment.”
Superstitions be damned — I was born for this moment!
